1st congress §

The congress aims to
be an open process running for a full academic year, with final face-to-face
sessions of debate, so that intellectual debate is not only limited
to the closing dates. New communication technologies allow visual contact
that facilitates access to papers and contributions and that provide
a channel for comments and suggestions throughout the year.
Registration of papers
and contributions will start in July 2004 and will
end on January 15th 2005. All the speakers who previously
request it, may publish their work in the Digital Journal of Working
Documents of the FIMAM Congress, this will promote debate in the congress.
The First Congress of
the Forum of Researchers on the Arab and Muslim World will be organized
in different interdisciplinary panels:
- Maghreb
- Middle East
- Islam and society
- Relations of the West with the Arab and Muslim World
- Islam in Europe
- The image of the Arab and Muslim World in the West (education, media, etc.)
It is possible to participate
in each one of these panels from any discipline of Social Sciences.
